Deployment Phase

After some initial issues with some of the boards in production, the final debugging stage has been completed, and the roll-out has begun.

For most of the boards any previous installation of Open-Repeater I am sorry to announce is out of date and uses older operating sytems that are no longer supported. There is no upgrade, but the replacement is phenomenal.

This software has now been tested on 2X, 4X and 8X boards and found to be successful. There are likely to be a few niggles with the type of radio equipment in use and the determination of Active-High or Active-Low in the COS/Squelch and PTT lines.

When using Proprietary Repeaters such as Kenwood and Yaesu that have Controllers built-in, then to run SvxLink succesfully, you will need to disable the on-board controllers either by hardware cable jumpers or software programming. Refer to your repeater schematic and workshop guides for these alterations. Submitting such a repeater to simplex control by SvxLink is not a viable solution.

The current operating system now tried and tested is Raspberry OS 13 (Trixie) Arm64bit or Debian 13 amd64 (Trixie).

Full instructions for the installation procedure can be found at the page here where it should take no more than 25 minutes to set up using Svxlink-Bootstrap.

This is a VHF Repeater located in the North of England based upon the same software.

Whilst not on an ICS-ctrl.com board the software itself has multi-port capabilities that investigates the settings available to it as you begin the installation process.

ICS-Ctrls.com boards have on-board MCP23017 chips that give the installation extended-GPIO busses that permit control of the attached boards, and the additional ports.

The software has awareness of the fe-pi and MCH-Streamer soundcards on these boards and will be configured accordingly, during the installation.

If at the end of the installation there are queries as to enhancements, than I shall be glad to answer them in the contact form on this site.

SvxLink© is conceived and developed by Tobias Blomberg SM0SVX. The version in use is 26.5.2.

The OpenRepeater version was version 17.

The Svxlink installation, Svxlink-Bootstrap, and Svxlink-Dash-V4.1 are developed by me Chris G4NAB and are not a commercial product and are not sold.
