A 2-line 20 Character LCD Display for instant communications
Not withstanding the presence of the SvxLink-Dash-V4 on an adjacent Networked Browser, often the opportunity arises where an instant read-out might be required, such as on a Repeater on a remote site when making a site visit.
I had an Adafruit Pi Plate doing nothing so I decided to see what I could do with it.
I had some stipulations with devising the new code structure, and that it was to not to interfere with the running Svxlink, its dashboard, or any other feature already installed. Everything could be read-only, aside from deploying a working talkgroup into action or activating a service, such as the Parrot, EchoLink, MetarInfo, or deploying a pre-programmed macro in the svxlink.conf.

The Pi Plate in this model has five buttons, Select, Left Right, Up and Down that cycle through the menus to permit the user to choose from Default Talkgroups, Monitoring Talkgroups, and Favourite Talkgroups, that can be selected from the other two selections. Talkgroups can also be removed from favourites.
Pre-configured macros in the Svxlink.conf can be read into the unit, so that other functions such as EchoLink to a favourite connection can be activated from the panel.
It will be up to the sysop to know what he has set the macros, but it has been tested and found to be running well.
