When constructing a simplex node or a repeater, your hardware can be very simple. Naturally the most expensive items will be transceivers, and those should be capable of producing ‘flat’audio, and a tapped output commonly known as COS, or squelch level detector. A Raspberry Pi and an SDcard of a minimum of 8Gb, 16Gb preferred and a USB sound card should be there only other commercial parts, of one is prepared to make an interface on vero-board or home-made circuit board.
